On March 20, 2024, the Board of Education voted on the proposed 2024-25 school district calendar. New to the calendar is the observance of Eid al-Fitr on March 31, 2025.
Eid al-Fitr is one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims and commemorates the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is commemorated by a large, community-wide prayer service in the morning, followed by meals and conversation with friends and family.
Holi, which was added to the district calendar in 2022-23, is included for the third year and Yom Kippur is included again after being added to the 2023-24 calendar.
This aligns with the district's efforts to be responsive and inclusive to all in the Schenectady community.
