Edgar Glascott is selected as Athletic Director
The Schenectady City School District is pleased to announce that on March 1, 2023, the board of education approved the appointment of Edgar Glascott as Athletic Director effective immediately.
“I look forward to what Edgar will do for our athletics program and our student athletes,” said Anibal Soler, Jr., superintendent of schools. “I know athletics is an important part of how we continue to uplift our district and community and I am confident that under Edgar's leadership we will continue to move in the right direction. Our students deserve the best experiences in the classroom and on the field or the court.”
Glascott has extensive coaching and athletic program leadership experience having served at Greenburgh Central School District and Newburgh Enlarged City School District. In his role as athletic director, he oversaw more than 1,500 student athletes, and successfully led several strong sports programs. Under his leadership, 100 percent of student athletes graduated at Newburgh School District and 90% earned college scholarships. The football and basketball teams both won Section 9 championships and competed in state playoffs.
As an athletic director, Glascott created new opportunities for athletes, expanding sports programs in both districts he served by adding Varsity boys and Girls bowling and Unified Basketball and Rowing for Exceptional Learners.
He also organized and administered the district’s extracurricular athletic program.
Glascott coached lacrosse for many years at both high school and college levels including as the Marist College Men’s Head Lacrosse Coach, and the U.S. Naval Academy Men’s Administrative Asst. Lacrosse coach.
Many qualified candidates were interviewed for the athletic director position. Glascott was selected as the top candidate by a multi-stakeholder interview team.
