Keane Elementary School Story Walk
On Thursday, August 4, Keane Elementary School held a fun-filled student showcase that unveiled a story walk and stations of fun. Story Walks or trails are set up in public parks and walking routes to promote reading. Keane Elementary School thought a "story trail" would be a wonderful addition to the school playground.
The students in the summer enrichment program at the school have been working with Author Dan Sadlowski and they based their first story trail on his book Finding Brooklyn. George Van Der Wouden and his construction crew built display easels and installed them on the playground for the walk.
Using the superhero theme in Sadlowski's book, the students created mural designs and costumes, that they wore for the the walk, which integrated superpowers.
The photos below will take you through some of the stations.
