Brian Dengler

Brian Dengler was named Chief of Facilities in June 2022. Prior to coming to Schenectady he served director of facilities and operations at Ravena Coeymans Selkirk Central School District from 2009-2013 and then director of facilities for the Albany City School District for six years. He also brings more than 10 years of experience working as a foreperson.

Dengler has vast knowledge and experience overseeing operations and maintenance functions and personnel as well as capital project facilities planning, renovation and collaboration. In his previous positions, Dengler has provided support with the sale and purchase of property, created efficiencies and increased productivity, and implemented systems including a work order system. He served as the lead during building condition surveying, developed operating procedures and created and provided professional development opportunities for department staff. He has knowledge of codes, laws, rules, and regulations that govern school buildings and groups as well as the principles and practices of administrative supervision.

Dengler is a respected builder and leader of custom-focused teams. He has a record of instilling a shared, enthusiastic commitment to customer service and leads by example to ensure safety security, and quality control policies. As the chief of facilities and operations in Schenectady, Dengler is responsible for providing administrative direction to the district’s buildings and grounds department including establishing policies and procedures regarding work schedules and leave time. He is responsible for developing policies and procedures regarding preventive maintenance of building grounds and equipment and ensuring that safety and security inspections and tests are performed and in compliance with codes and regulations. He directs, assigns, trains and evaluates the work of department administrators and staff as well as work with construction manager architects and engineers to develop, implement and complete capital improvement projects and other long-term plans. He will be responsible for approving department purchase requests and budget planning.
