Ken McDermith, special projects administrator for NERIC, began serving as the acting leader of the district's technology department in January 2022.
McDermith offers vast school technology leadership experience. He served as the Director of Technology at Shenendehowa Central School District from 2012-2021. Prior to that he was the Academic Administrator for Careers and Technical Education for seven years. He began his career as a Technology Education Teacher at Mohonasen where he taught for 15 years.
To advance technology efforts and service, the district is utilizing the service and expertise of NERIC. McDermith leads the the district IT team and NERIC technicians and staff.
McDermith has keen knowledge and expertise regarding the district network, servers and storage. His work includes increasing capacity, enhancing support, ensuring security, data protection and law compliance.
In January, under his leadership, a new portal for IT service and support was launched.
McDermith is overseeing many projects including upgrades to the phone system, new applications for student management, and the development of a new multi-year instructional technology plan.
