Shannon Tahoe was named Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Professional Learning on June 15, 2022.
Tahoe comes to Schenectady from the Capital Region BOCES where she served as General Counsel and Director of the Human Resources Shared Services. She also served on the Executive Leadership Team at Capital Region BOCES and has worked intimately with district superintendents throughout the state on a variety of matters.
Prior to her work at BOCES, Tahoe served as Interim Commissioner and President of the University of the State of New York where she oversaw the work of nearly 700 school districts with 3.2 million students, 7,000 libraries, 900 museums and more than 50 professions encompassing nearly 900,000 licensees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before serving as Interim Commissioner, Tahoe worked in a variety of positions at the New York State Education Department, including Deputy Counsel and Assistant Counsel for Legislative Affairs. She has vast knowledge and expertise in education and human resources.
Tahoe earned a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, from the University of Rochester. She has a Juris Doctorate, Magna Cum Laude, from Syracuse University and is licensed to practice law. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s in Science Educational Leadership program at Niagara University.
