2024-2025 Budget Proposal

The Board of Education adopted a 2024-2025 Budget in the amount of $265,267,298 at the April 24, 2024 Board of Education meeting. The budget proposal reflects a $12,353,471 increase or 2.7% over the current year, will have no impact on the tax levy, and maintains all current program and staffing levels. The presentation is available here.

A Budget hearing will be held May 8, 2024. Voters will head to the polls and vote on the proposal on May 21, 2024.

In addition to the budget, voters will also elect two members to the Board of Education.

Additional propositions are as follows:

  • Proposition for sale of a portion of 2310 Guilderland Ave. The proposition will read:

    "Shall the Board of Education of the City School be authorized to sell 288 +/- sq.ft. of property on the edge of Van Corlaer Elementary School land for a price not less than $1,000, less usual and customary closing costs to Gumani Unlimited LLC"

  • Proposition authorizing the demolition and construction of an addition to William C. Keane Elementary School and Pleasant Valley Elementary School. This is not a new project set forth and will not affect the Capital Project or district's borrowing. This is   SEQRA (State Environmental Quality Review Act) compliance which is a review of potential environmental impacts prior to starting a project.  This was not part of the original $300 million referendum therefore must receive voter approval before beginning the work.   The proposition will read as follows:

"Shall the supplemental bond resolution adopted by the Board of Education on March 6, 2024 authorizing the expansion of the capital project approved by the voters on May 16, 2023 be expanded to include

- (A) the demolition of a portion of, construction of an addition to, and reconstruction and renovation of the William C. Keane Elementary School building, playground and site;

- (B) the construction of an addition to, and reconstruction and renovation of the Pleasant Valley Elementary School building and site;

- (C) the acquisition and installation in and around the foregoing buildings of original furnishings, equipment, machinery, apparatus and technology improvements; and - (D) preliminary and incidental costs related thereto, be approved"
